Within the last 90 minutes, it has been reported that Gary Ginstling, the President and CEO of the New York Philharmonic, has “abruptly stepped down.”
Criterion Number One for the next President/CEO of the New York Philharmonic should be:
Commit on your first day of work to make the investigation into your rotten workplace culture public, like The Cleveland Orchestra and Curtis Institute did. It is the only path forward and out of the sewer.
Hmmm, Gary was our CEO at the Berkeley Symphony prior to Indianapolis. A good man. I suspect he was pushed out due to his going after the problem, or he just said screw this horrible place.
